Barry began studying Musical Theatre at The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith at the age of 13. Four years later, he began an education of another kind, joining the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. After being honorably discharged in 1981, he spent many a long day's night traveling a long and winding road for several years, setting aside his aspirations as an actor. Finally remembering the calling of his youth, in 1991 Barry began the journey back to his life's passion. He performed in several stage productions to regain his footing, eventually becoming an Equity Member Candidate in 2016, while a member of the Arkansas Shakespear Theatre company. During this time Barry also appeared in over 30 films, working with a wide array of filmmakers, from collegiate film students to veteran Hollywood icons. In 2019 Barry joined SAG-AFTRA and set about pursuing acting as a full-time career. Although much time was spent pursuing other interests, Barry views his motley adventures during much of his life as an investment in character development. Drawing on his diverse past, mistakes made, and lessons learned, he is able to put his life experiences to use to create grounded characters, anchored in reality. He is thankful for the opportunities he has had, and looks forward to many more!
